Emma Jean and the Thunder Storm...

thump... thump... "what is that sound dear?" Emma's mom asked her dad... he just responded with a shrug of the shoulders. Emma pops up out of her novel, "its going to be a thunder storm!!" Emma loves thunder storms... She loves to sit at the window and watch the lightning shoot across the sky, hear the thunder rolling through!  tonight was a little different though... tonight Emma was sleeping in her new bedroom, alone, in the basement!!! as she thought about the loud thunder shaking her old house to the frame, she dreaded bed time, and bedtime was getting closer and closer! after dinner, Emma had a shower, read a book to her mom, brushed her teeth and then was told to go to bed! Emma walked down the stairs towards her new room.. thump... thump... Emma jumped out of her slippers... "MOM!!!!" she yelled... her mom came running down the stairs... "what is it ?" she cried "are you ok?" her mom looks at her in the face, "whats wrong Emma?" Emma looked up at her mom, "i h-h-hear-r-rd a noise!" her mom looked around... "i dont see anything, im sure you will be fine... off to bed!" Emma continued walking into her room, past the creaking closet door, over to the bed that she runs to and jumps on! all of the sudden a loud rolling noise shook right through the house, emma pulls her blanket over her head... "that was scary" she whispered to herself! She heard a few more loud thunders and saw flashes through her window... emmas eyes started to become heavy and start to close... just as her head started to lean to one side, loud thunder banged on the roof of the house! she jumped up out of bed, eyes wide open! "aaahhhhh!!!!" she screamed!! Emmas dad came running down the stairs at the sound of his daughters scream, "whats wrong?" he asked with a concerned look on his face. emma sat up and pulled the blanket off her face, "that last roll of thunder really scared me!"she said "emma if you want to sleep on the couch upstairs or in your brothers room, you can!" he said turning to walk away... Emma lifted her head and looked around.. its not scary in here, she thought... "dad! i think im going to stay here, and face it... after all if i dont sleep down here tonight, when will i do it!?" he looked back at her with his hand on the lightswitch, "goodnight emma!" he said as he turned the light off! " goodnight dad!" after that emma heard one more crazy thunder before her eyes finally won and she fell asleep. When emma awoke in the morning she looked around and said "im still here! still in one piece and my house is still standing!! woohoo!!" she jumped out of bed and threw her slippers on and ran upstairs! "woooooohoooooo!" she yelled. her mom and dad were cooking breakfast in the kitchen when she came running in! "wow emma, you look happy and refreshed!" said her mom! "i feel great mom! i didnt give into my scared feelings! i just did what i had to do!" she said with a reasuring smile on her face! "emma, your nine... you are allowed to be scared! but you are brave, just dont grow up too fast... you're already nine going on thirty!" said her dad... "hahaha!! ill be nine for atleast 8 more months dad!" laughed Emma!

Markus VS the bee

The sky was full of the sun, and it was time to play outside! Markus loves to play outside... so out he went with his two friends and older sister Emma. they were playing outside for some time when all of the sudden Markus felt a sting right on his forehead! "ow!" he cried, "mommy!!!" he started to cry and went to show his mom his head! "what happened mommy?" Markus' mom looked at his head... "uh oh" she said, "it looks like you got stung by a bee!" he cried out, "a bee!!!" Markus couldn't believe he got stung, his first time ever! the next day Markus was asked if he wanted to play outside, "no, I'm too scared of getting stung again..." Markus' mom looked at him and said "are you just never gonna go outside again?" he looked out the window at the sun, the green grass, the blue sky...and the bees... "I'm not going outside when there are bees out there" he said. so his mom started to think of what she could do to help him with his fear! suddenly it popped into her head! "Markus, get your shoes on, you're coming with me!!" Markus got his shoes on and followed his mom and big sister into the van. "where are we going mommy?" he asked quietly..."well Markus", she said, " we are going to the Bee and Honey place to learn about bees!" said his mom. "noooooo! I'm too scared!!" cried Markus! When they got to the bee place he saw a bunch of boxes stacked on top of each other... "whats that mommy?" his mom looked over... "oh, those are the bee hives Markus! that's where they live and make honey!" after a full day at the bee place Markus felt alright about bees... so the next day when his mommy said "lets go outside kids!!" Markus looked out the window, opened the door and ran outside! he wasn't afraid anymore!!! "see mom, cause i learned about what i was scared of, I'm not scared of them anymore!" Markus' mommy looked at him and said, "i always new you would be fine, you are so brave!!"
